Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to 'beef' up my engine? No, most engines are good candidates for supercharging as long as they have good ring and valve sealing. Of course the way a vehicle is driven directly affects engine life. A camshaft change would be beneficial to the performance but not necessary under normal street applications.
Will a Supercharger shorten the life on my engine? No, Supercharging will not generally shorten the life of an engine as long as correct maintenance schedules and tuning is adhered to, and again the way the vehicle is driven.
Will Supercharging affect fuel economy? Under normal throttle conditions Centrifugal Superchargers will use very little more and in some cases less fuel than Non-Supercharged engines.
How much boost will it run? For street applications running 8 to 9:1 compression on pump gas, 5 to 8 pounds boost. For performance applications running 10:1 compression upwards and on high octane gas, 8-15 pounds boost.
Why is Supercharging so popular? Centrifugal Superchargers are simple to install and they deliver exceptional performance without the need to strip and rebuild the engine. Centrifugal Superchargers do not generate anywhere near the underbonnet temperatures of turbochargers and instant response and horsepower can be achieved.
